Summer Mornings

During winters I usually get up at 9 or at 11, whenever possible. I can explain it...it's hibernation for poor, tired souls like me :D. But during summer, no matter how early or how late I go to sleep, I ALWAYS am awake by 8 o clock. This is very irritating, especially when I've just started enjoying my spring break!
I expect my mornings to look like this:

But they'r usually something like this:

On T.V shows, the actresses appear so cool and refreshed after a good night's sleep...but in truth we all look like a hurricane hit us when we check ourselves in the mirror. There's a secret to avoid such a scenario all together...I follow it diligently every morning..."Don't look at the mirror". Trust me, if you repeat this mantra every morning after getting up from bed, you will become a very satisfied and successful human being!
Jokes apart, the worst part about summer in India, is that every region faces different problems including humidity, perspiration, dryness, heat, etc. It takes a really good optimist to survive the summer season in India without an occasional "Garmi bahut ho gayi hai" or a "Aj toh pighal hi jana hai". So all I can advise to all those out there is that you all should probably drink loads of liquids and go out with friends more( it seriously reduses stress levels) and hit the air conditioned rooms more often. Other than that, you could just start hitting the shower an extra couple of times, just try not to use all the cold water (especially if you have siblings, matters can get very rough!). All the best guys and girls, enjoy the summer (as much as you possibly can) !

Loads to tell!!

1st off...I completed my goal of meeting 2 old friends, Muskan Sethia and Karan Vijay both together and while meeting them I also got to go visit a part of town where I'd never been earlier!

Sometimes, life doesn't seem quite right without one's besties. You may eat, drink, stay and sleep at home. But whenever something happens in your life, no matter how big or small, you just feel like you HAVE to share it with your friends. One may have many friends, but we all have those special friends, without whom our chats, our fights, our dates, our gossips or even our hangouts would simply be incomplete. So, its quite obvious that I just HAD to include my two partners in crime in my summer project plan.

Also, the other day I went to The Wall, an amazing restaurant in Ballygange place. I'd gone with a grandfather and a few cousins. As we were served dish after dish of heavenly smelling food, I couldn't help wonder when I'd be going back there again. Hopefully quite soon!

Day 3 (Review: Sex and the City)

Soap/Serial: Sex and The City

This is a T.V. soap opera based on the life of yet another city based blogger, Carrie Bradshaw and her friends. Super sexy, a highly refined taste for life, straight forward and fashion diva Carrie Bradshaw settles in Manhattan to become a famous writer and to find the love of her life, whom she eventually meets... John Preston ( or BIG as Carrie calls him) :D .
The Best Girls Ever!!
Starting from the left we have Charlotte York, Carrie Bradshaw, Samantha Jones and Miranda Hobbes...here's a short introduction to them for all those who didn't recognise them:

Charlotte York: She is the optimist. Whenever there is a controversy or a topic of debate, you can always root for Charlotte to find "the best in everyone" . She is always seeking for a happy ending and sometimes has a clash of sorts with Samantha, who is more of a free-spirit...but it's the girl world and they are all friends forever, so they eventually make it up every single time :) .

Carrie Bradshaw: I have already given an intro to her... but one can never express in words our dear Carrie's love for shoes and dresses alike. I mean, on every episode my sister and I used to watch together, we'd be glued to the T.V just to see what outfit she came up with next. Also, her sense of humor is priceless, her sarcasm witty and by throughout the series, she seems simply ageless!

Samantha Jones: A high paid entrepreneurial lady, working as a PR manager, Samantha Jones' attitude is as real as it gets :D . She has a bad-ass attitude which is completely irresistible and her elixir of life are men (all different, mind you) .She is a woman who is completely relaxed in her own skin and has the best connections  in town. A nightmare for married ladies, an angel to her best friends and the Devil's female representation...Samantha Jones is a woman who loves heights :D .

Miranda Hobbes: The most sensible and logical thinker of the lot, Miranda Hobbes is a hot shot lawyer in Manhattan who loves to have a control of whatever is going on in her life. A red head and full of ideas, she has a love for any kind of information she can get her hands on. She may not be that high on fashion as the others all of the time, but if anyone wants to hear an honest opinion, they can always count on Miranda!

These girls have gone a long way throughout the series and give us a lot to ponder about and inspire us for finding our own adventure. Them finding each other was the best thing that could have happened to them as well as their die hard fans such as me.
It isn't easy to be beautiful as well as intelligent at the same time, its a lot of hard work, as any girl would say to you. But...they make it look absolutely easy. Samantha's boldness, Miranda's tact, Charlotte's hopefulness and Carrie's fantasies all make our problems disappear for the half hour that they appear on screen :) . Regardless about the title...the soap is not much about sex as it is about the lives of these women who could win the world together.

The Summer Project Plan

As promised people, I've been up and about lately to make the final "Summer Project Plan" . I have promised myself that I'll finish it by the time our class 12th board exams are announced (I know, I need a miracle, to do that). But...most important, i have a few items on the list for which I'll need the help of all my readers out there. So, without any more delay, I give you....the PLAN!

  • Read 5 books (any topic viable)
  • Write a song (no laughing please...I'm pretty serious)
  • Cook 6 dishes (and no, you guys can't drop in at mealtimes....yet :p)
  • Learn 7 new embroidery designs
  • Write 5 reviews tops (any topic...suggestions requested)
  • Sincerely and genuinely listen to 30 suggested tunes and pick a new favourite ( because, I've never diligently done that before)
  • Visit 5 different places in the city, where I've never earlier been to before
  • Meet up with 2 very old and 2 very recent friends of mine
  • Finally, to come up with a new project with the help of your suggestions!

It's a quite harsh deadline, but I'm hoping to make it. Best part is that I get to do things which I wouldn't have done without a closing date. I'm one of those people who will NOT get out of bed before the alarm goes off (even if I've been tossing and turning for the last one hour). Are you? ;)

For tomorrow, I'm going to try the closed herrington stitch and the satin stitch. These stitches are usually used for embroidering clothes, napkins, handkerchiefs, mats, coasters, table covers, pillow covers, etc. They are a few of the easiest and most interesting stitches used for decoration. More on them tomorrow!

    Day 1

The summer can be pretty boring, when one has nothing interesting to do. I have been eating, watching T.V and sleeping in a constant vicious cycle for 12 days at a stretch now! So here I am, with a summer project, that I need to finish before my class 12th boards are announced. I'll put up the final schedule for this project tomorrow at 9. For now, I'll just reveal to you that it will consist of baking, reading, hanging out, creative writing and designing everyday items in a new and novel way .

This afternoon, I plan to start with the easy items on my rudimentary list...cooking a dessert.
I have just returned from my uncle's place and what I've learnt from his love for food, is that a good dessert always compliments an afternoon meal.

So I will be making a dish of Bread Malpua,
whose recipe I'll be posting on my blog by this evening.
So wish me luck fellas and enjoy your summer
    afternoon! :)
